Before embarking on creating my own line of fabrics & wallpapers, I had an extensive career in textile & surface pattern design, working with clients to create & develop their brief for printed fabric and surface pattern applications across bedding, ceramics, fashion fabrics & more.
Macquarie Scarf for the National Trust
I was commissioned by the National Trust in 2020 to develop a scarf design inspired by the patterns, motifs and colours of Governor Macquarie’s dinner plate collection that is on display at Old Government House, Parramatta. The scarf design had to be appealing and modern for today, but at the same time embodying a connection to this most prized possession of the display. I took the original handpainted Imari-style motifs on the plates and rearranged them into a simpler, less fussy layout that worked in repeat. I dropped some heavier, old fashioned elements of the plate decoration, but kept the original colour arrangement of indigo, rusty reds and blue/green leaves in a handpainted style, but bumped up the colour so they would work for a fashion accessory such as a scarf.
Ficifolia Corymbia licensed to Art X Scrubs
In 2022 I was very honoured to have my Ficifolia Corymbia design included in the first range of medical scrubs developed by Art X Scrubs. Their range of medical scrubs and accessories (see socks below) featuring a fabulous range of Australian textile designers prints has been a great success and has no doubt brightened the days of our frontline staff and patients.
